Sometimes its better to be lucky than good. For instance, during a recent trip to Wooden Indian Tobacco shop in Havertown, PA, there were some amazing cigars on sale.
Because they are expanding to be an on-line retailer and had removed a bunch of cigars to take photos. A four pack of cigars by Cornelius and Anthony were deeply discounted and I could not resist. Previously, the only cigar I had ever smoked by C&A was the Daddy Mac. Today, it’s the Cornelius.
I’m going to get ahead of myself and just announce that every cigar I smoked was fantastic. Each blend brought something different in terms of flavor, body and intensity; exactly what you want from a boutique blend. Rather than give a variation of the same core blend, C&A provides several distinct cigars. They aren’t even rolled at the same factory.
The Cornelius by Cornelius and Anthony is produced at the El Titan de Bronze factory in Miami that gave is Willie Herrera. This factory ha given us a vast variety of award-winning cigars. Not knowing anything else about the cigar, I expected good construction, even burn and great tobacco.
This cigar is a medium bodied blend composed of an Ecuadorian Habano wrapper and binder with Nicaraguan fillers. Sizes are a 6 x 50 Toro, 6.5 x 42 Lonsdale, 5 x 52 Robusto and a 5.5 x 46 Corona Gorda.
The Cornelius was a slight departure from the fiery Daddy Mac which accounts for most of my Cornelius and Anthony experience. This cigar is very spicy while maintaining a medium body. There is a little sweetness too which I love about C&A cigars.
I’ve read other reviews that describe white pepper. I agree, but cayenne pepper is there too. This cigar also had wheat and herbal notes and wisps of orange citrus midway through. The combination of flavors was superb.
All of the characteristics of a well-crafted cigar were present. God draw, even burn and balance. The flavor is outstanding and somewhat unique which is all I ask from a good cigar.
Nothing tastes like a Cornelius and Anthony. This brand is its own category and the Cornelius is a standout. If you thought you needed a full-bodied cigar to deliver the heat, guess again. This medium bodied cigar (like the Daddy Mac) packs a solid left jab to the chin!
